Lazar Lazar was one out of 32 bands in Nashville chosen to compete in Music City Mayhem 2012. The competition has now been narrowed down to 16 bands, us being one of them. Thanks to you, we won the first round of voting, NOW WE NEED YOUR VOTES AGAIN!
10:00am, it’s time to vote! There will be one more round of voting after this and then a live show with the top 4 bands competing, the winner goes to Live on the Green!
Also, if you want to hear us on the radio tune into Lightning 100 today at 11:00am and 4:00pm!
DAY 5
WOW.
After 17 hours of keyboard over dubs and lead vocals, we got everything done EXCEPT for back up vocals.
Sunday we will go back to finish up!
Dave Hagen, one of the head engineers at Dark Horse was awesome and stayed with us THE WHOLE DAY!
Thanks to ALL the students at Dark Horse who were involved, it was an awesome experience! Lazar Lazar’s new album, “What’s Left to Say” will be finished and readily available in just a few short months…
SESSION 1 COMPLETE.
DAY 4
Today we moved out of “the Lodge” and into “the Cabin”, a smaller, more intimate studio at Dark Horse.
With Dave Hagen overseeing and co-producing, we made some killer sounds today!
Working only on overdubbing guitar (Overdubbing (the process of making an overdub, or overdubs) is a technique used by recording studios to add extra recorded sounds to a previously recorded performance.), we finished every song and will finally get to vocals tomorrow!
Along with doing the vocals, we will be overdubbing keys with Lucas and adding some surprise sounds…
THE HAIL CAME DOWN.
On our 3rd day at Dark Horse, while packing up the drums hail, golfball-sized pieces of hail came out of NOWHERE!
So here is our documentation of the event.
DAY 3
Whew!
After finally tracking our last song”A Line” it was time to pack up the drums and start on the keys.
Our good friend Lucas Morton has jumped on the piano/B3/keyboard for the record adding unique, tasty accents and screaming organs, pushing the album to new boundaries.
DAY 2.
In our attempt to finish the final four songs, we only got 3 done.
“Escape”, “Sunny”, and “Your Melody”. On Wednesday we will record our final song for this session, “A Line”!
Then on to piano/keyboard and vocals!
DAY 1 COMPLETE!
After a long morning of setting up and getting levels, we finally recorded two of our songs! “Alone” and “Stay”.
We are so excited to finally have the opportunity to record these tunes, we’ve been playing them for so long now, it feels good to track them.
The team we are working with is awesome. A group of students and engineers at Dark Horse are working together and with us to create some amazing sounds. We spent about an hour and a half on mic placement for the drums, and it was worth every second of it.
Tomorrow we will be tracking the remaining four, “Your Melody”, “Sunny”, “A Line” and “Escape”!

Lazar Lazar is FINALLY recording their FULL LENGTH ALBUM!
Starting Monday, we are starting on our new record at Dark Horse Studios in Franklin. (Name of album will be announced soon).
